Recommended Art Supplies

Continue your art journey after class with quality art supplies.

These are a few that I really enjoy using.

Sketching Bag

This bag is just the right size to carry what I need with plenty of pockets to organize it all. I take it everywhere. Fits an A5 sketchbook and smaller.

A5 Sketchbook

A5 (half size of a sheet of printer paper) is the perfect size for on the go sketching. I like mixed media paper, about 200 GSM.

Fudenosuke pens

‘Fude pens’ - or brush pens produce loose lines of varying thickness by adjusting stroke. I like Tombow pens but the ink will run in water.

Fineliner Pens

Technical fineliner pens - the best choice is Sakura Pigma. You have one in your art kit already. Get a full set with all the line thicknesses. Comes with a brush pen and a soft tip marker too! Waterproof.

Watercolors

Refill your watercolor palette with Windsor and Newton Cotman watercolor tubes. Squeeze paint into the well and let it dry overnight.

White Acrylic Pen

White ink is great to add highlights. It’s hard to find a great white pen that will be opaque, run smooth and have a fine tip. I’ve found the pen that does it all. This Grabie pen is wonderful.

Washi Tape

I searched long and hard for the perfect tape that wouldn’t tear up watercolor paper easily. Washi tape is the best that I have found. Its designed to be placed on paper for bullet journaling.

Watercolor Paper

I like Strathmore 300 or 500 series cold press watercolor paper. It takes paint and water well and holds up to several layers. This is the paper in your art kit.
